Winter League Final
Yesterday we had the final between The Fridge Magnets and The Rockers. The Rockers were Keith Maher, Billy Blake, Alyn Poleon and Tracey Smith and The Fridge Magnets consisted of Philo Condron, Jay Condron, Dan Courtney and Peter Fitzgerarld.
The doubles kicked off at 11am which was Philo and Peter V Keith and Tracey in the first match and Billy and Alyn V Jay and Dan in the second game. Philo pitched a very impressive ball on the 17th hole which won the first match for the Fridge Magnets. The second game was very close with not only it being level after 9 but also level after 18 so it went to the first tie hole where Billy and Alyn took the points. So it was one a piece after the doubles.

There were two chances of scalps in this year's final as Philo played Keith and Tracey played Peter. The first match was very close but Keith secured the two points on the last hole. Peter hadn't lost a single's game throughout the whole league and kept up this form when he took Tracey in on the 15th hole. This left the game 4-4 with two matches still to finish (and no scalps!!!).

Attention then quickly focused on the last two holes. Alyn and Jay's game was next to finish when Alyn won on the 17th. Dan had a putt then to bring the match to a tie hole on the last against Billy but missed it so the Rockers won 8-4, which is the same result as when they played each other in the group stages!

After finishing runners up a few times in recent years it was great to see Keith Maher and his team finally taking the title. Well done to both teams on consistently playing well throughout the league.
