Dublin Finish Runner up at County Challenge

The Dublin Inter and Junior teams finished in second plce to the host club Westmeath in the County Challenge in Lough Owel on Saturday. The Host club did a wonderful job running the event with a marque erected at the side of the course. Dublin played with West Meath in the Junior event and were well in touch just seven behind after the doubles but West Meath produced stunning pitch & putt in the singles and simply blew the field away winning by an impressive 42 shots. The scoring by the Dublin team though was excellent on the vey tough long course.

In the inters it was again West Meath and Dublin to the fore front and the margin was just five shots ahead for the hosts after the dpubles. Dublin were out first in the singles and they closed that gap, at one stage it looked like the Dublin team might pull it off, but West Meath after a rocky first nine hole steadied the ship and won the challenge by ten shots. It was a great day of pitch N' Putt and the first of its kind. James Corcoran thanked all those who were taking part and made the journey. Anthony Malone paid tribute to the organisers and said it was what our sport needed to get all grades involved and he hoped it would just be the start of it. The Dublin team can be proud of their efforts the guys performed well and did their county proud and we hope this will be the start of this over the years to come.
