News | Leinster Matchplay Qualifying - Night 1 | Posted on 23 Apr '12 by Dave Hayden II | | | | | | There were mixed fortunes for Lucan players on the opening night of the qualifying for the 2012 Leinster Gents Matchplay.
In the Senior grade only two Lucan players were scheduled to play, Philip Sweeney advanced after receiving a walkover while Johnny Price was beaten by Old County's Stephen Power.
The Intermediate grade seen both Gerry Ward and Alan Doyle in action, but neither man managed to progress as they suffered defeats at the hands of Guinness' Robert Maxwell Jnr and Old County's Tom Balfe respectively.
There was better news in the Junior grade where Dan Courtney defeated Glenville's Des Caffrey to set up a meeting with Stephen Needham in the next round.
