| After last Sunday all teams will have played at least one game. A little roundup of how the groups stand and the highlights from them. Group C Group C is headed by Paddy's Pirates who have a 2-point lead from their nearest rivals. The Pirates have had 2 good wins to start off their voyage to a winter league win beating two very strong teams. Week one they beat Heffo's Army 7-5 and then followed this up with an 8-4 victory over the Flynn's Fliers. They have two more matches before their free week so will be looking to build on their already strong start. In 2nd place is Heffo's Army which have also had a good start to the winter leagues. A narrow defeat in week one was followed up with an 8-4 victory. This family team will not go down without a fight and will definitely be in the running come the end of the group stages. 3rd place is the Unknowns who after week 1 can no longer be classed as not known. A fantastic 10-2 victory over the Flynn's Fliers but then sat out week 2. This team sits in a very strong position and will be battling it out at the business end for the qualifying spots. 4th place is the Flynn Fliers who were hit with an injury late into last week and required a sub. The sub didn't disappoint and came up with a victory in the doubles to give the team some well needed points. With a free week this week they can regroup and hopefully come on strong in the last 2 games. 5th place is the Rooney's Rogues who started off their campaign last week after a week 1 bye week. They came up against Heffo's Army and got a respectable 4 points. The return of Declan was great to see and he showed no rust as he took a good singles win against last years Captain Fantastic Dermot. This team will be in the mix come week 5 and maybe beyond. Group D Group D after two weeks is still wide open with the group leaders having a week off this week opening the door for the others to gain some ground. In 1st Place we have the Power Rangers who got a close fought victory in week 1 and then followed that win up with a strong showing against the Tractormen to put them on top of the group with 15 points but will they be still on top come Sunday Evening. In 2nd place is the Tractormen who have had 1 victory and 1 defeat. Starting in week 1 they took an 8-4 victory over the Knee Knockers and then week 2 fell 8-4 to the power rangers. A big match this week against last years winners could be the difference between qualifying and not. 3rd place is the 2025 Champs the Dream Team. They were awake and alert last week as they took a 9-3 victory which has them in a strong position in the group as they have had their free week they have the advantage of being able to build on a strong start. But as already mentioned they have a difficult match this week against the Tractormen. 4th place is the Knee Knockers who have had a difficult start to things as they have had 2 tough losses. In this group there is no easy games and they have another difficult one this week with the Murphs. A strong finish will be required but this team is well capable. In 5th place is the Murphs after sitting out in week two this team like the Dream Team can power themselves into the qualifying spots with some strong results. After a very tight game in week 1 this time is right there with 3 games to go, they come up against the Knee knockers this week and with a good result they can shoot up the table and get right into the mix of things. | ||||
