Two down three to go Part 1

After last Sunday all teams will have played at least one game. A little roundup of how the groups stand and the highlights from them.

Group A

After week one Murphy's law took a lead in the group with a 10-2 win over the Misfits but then sat out week 2 as they had their free week which pushed them into 2nd place. Another strong performance this week could see this team pushing for the number 1 spot.

The Misfits sit out week 3, after 2 games they have got themselves sitting in 1st place with a 10-2 defeat followed up with a 10-2 win but they will need a strong finish to the group stage if they are to hold on to one of the two qualifying places as the 2 teams who have only played 1 game each are hot on their heels.

The 4 Horsemen had a good start in week 1 winning 7-5 but then in week 2 were defeated by the Rhinos 9-3. This team sits in 3rd and with 2 matches for them remaining will need 2 big results.

Currently in 4th place in this group is the Rhino's who sat out week one but came out swinging in week 2. A strong win over the 4 horsemen put them on 9 points and if they can follow up this result with another big win they could put themselves in a great position for the quarters.

Teamu are currently on 7 points after the 1st two weeks. This team which are a new entrant in the winter leagues will need some very big performances to get themselves into a qualifying place.

Group B

With 2 rounds played Alarmed and Dangerous have a commanding lead but with their free week being in week 5 could this make for a dash to the finish from the rest of the group. 2 very strong performances from this team with a 10-2 win followed by an 8-4 win sees them sit on 18 points and top of the leaderboard. A tough match this week against the Mints.

In joint 2nd is Fantastic Fore who are a newly formed team and after sitting out week 2 come up against the McCann Cans this week. A big result could put this team right in the mix of a group that looks very close even with the strong start from Alarmed and Dangerous.

Also, joint 2nd and another team who have had their free week is the Mints. New to the winter leagues they took off storming in week two with an 8-4 win over the Mcann Cans. This team sit in a similar position to the Fantastic Four needing a strong result in week. Possibly one of the matches of the weekend with Husband and Wife's teams playing each other (no messing with the wake-up alarm Nicola).

Team number 3 in joint 2nd is the Barbarians who also sit on 8 points but have played 2 games. They sit out week 3 and will be hoping for some results to go their way to get them back in the running for a qualifying spot. An injury in the team for week 2 but hopefully a return after the free week will spur this team on.

Finally with 6 points is the Mcann Cans. They have had a difficult start in the group playing the current leaders in week one but with 2 matches still to go they can still get themselves into the mix. A big week this week playing Fantastic Fore and with a good result this can really throw a spanner in the mix for Group B.
