National Matchplay qualifying - Round 1

With the preliminary round out of the way, the first round proper in the battle to qualify for the 2012 National Gents Matchplay Championships got underway last night in C.P.M. and Shandon respectively.

Lucan had high hopes with six players all vying to make it into the final night of qualifying, however it was not to be a good night for the Lucan lads as Terry McMorrow, Darren Kane and Steven Keegan all came a cropper in C.P.M. while Philip Sweeney was unable to secure victory in Shandon.

Lucan did have two winners in Dave Hayden who defeated Portmarnock's Shay Brady while Johnny Price was too strong for Glenville's evergreen Leo O'Reilly.
