News | Frank Murray R.I.P. | Posted on 10 Jul '23 by Maria Rooney | | Lucan Pitch and Putt Club acknowledge the passing of Frank Murray last Friday 7th July, a person whose association with the Club goes back to its very beginning. Frank was one of the handful of people who set up the first meeting in Lucan that brought our Club into existence. He was a person who never looked for the focus of attention but was ever willing to be of assistance in whatever way he could. He worked for many years on committees of our Club, and got involved in whatever capacity he could to bring the Club forward. In the early years when commitment and personal time was demanded at weekends or evening times, Frank always made himself available. The costly work in those days of doing posters for advertising our Club, our competitions and doing signage for our Club fundraising was undertaken by Frank on a voluntary basis.
Frank did find time to make a fervent and consistent contribution to the Club competitions. He loved the casual Sunday evening four-ball with the lads and the enjoyment it brought. Frank did advance to Lucan Golf Club in the 1980's but never lost his interest in the Pitch and Putt Club and the many friendships he made at the 12th Lock.
The members of Lucan Pitch and Putt Club would like to extend their deepest sympathy to Frank's wife Catherine and his sons Eamon and Colm and his extended family.
