Week five of the winter leagues did'nt throw up any suprises as all the teams leading their groups qualified for the quarter finals. The ladies only managed two scalps with Trish Anderso whooping Ian Campbell and Trish Tully mauling the bewildered Jay Condron.A quick mention of two players who got lost on the course on Sunday Anthony Keegan and Liam Poole, they are safe and well and they will be supplied with a "Sat Nav" for future competitions.
In group 1 Billy Blake's "Players" took top spot over Andy Fitzgerald's "Buzzers",in group two Philip Sweeney's "Todds" with miracle man P.J. McCluskey playing through the pain barrier to carry his side through to the quarters leaving Tony McDonnell's "Farmers" to take runner-up and qualifying for Sundays matches.
In group 3 the self proclaimed favorites Johnny Price's "dream team" romped through to the knockout stages ahead of Steven Keegan's "Diggers".
Group 4 the top spot went to Kathleen Croke's "Golden Oldies"with hubby Paddy and his "Crokers" taking second spot to qualify for Sundays matches.

The quarter final matches for Sunday are as follows-- at ten o'clock Paddy Crokes team meet Billy Blakes dark horses and in the other match at this time is Philip Sweeney's team against his buddy Steven Keegan's side.
At 11am in the first match we see last years finalists Johnny Price's dream team paired against the runner-up last year Terry O'Shaughnessy's terriers and in the last quarter final match we have Kathleen Croke against our President Tony McDonnell's much improved side.
Best of luck to all the teams and a special thanks again to Pat Toolan for his continued sponsorship of this competition.
