Week four of the winter leagues produced some intriguing encounters and only three scalps for the beligured ladies. The lucky ladies collecting the scalps were Fionna Langan who defibulated the hapless stand-in Ronnie Guinan,Marie O'Toole devoured the wannabe inter player P.J.McCluskey on the 7th hole and Kathleen Granger delicately whipped the quiet Micheal Stratford.Ladies looks like the lack of match practice on the Saturday is having an effect!!! only three scalps.
Three holes in one were logged on a very windy day which made conditions difficult with Paul Dillon hitting one on the second,Sandra Keogh slotting one in on the difficult third and Noel Leonard scoring one on the pressure hole on the ninth with a majestic pitch and winning his match!!!The three players received their prize of a packet of polo mints from the captains Maria and Hugh.

In group 1 Andy Fitzgeralds buzzers and Brenda Purcell's Smurfs shared the spoils. The second match in this group was the shock of the day with Billy Blake's "players" throuncing Christy Kane's "Cougars" 12-0.The leaders in this group are Billy Blake's muggers with 26 points leading Andy Fitzgerald's stingers by 20 points going into the last game, but the other two teams - Christy Kane and Dan coady's teams could sneak in depending on results and the good lord!!

In Group 2 we had three very close games with Mick Purcell's Vagabonds pipping Barbara Furlong's one eight of a milers 7-5,Tony McDonnell's flampers bounced back with a convincing win after last weeks 12-0 debacle beating Paul Dillon's flatliners 8-4 and finally in this group Philip Sweeney's "todds" throunced Pat Blakes Geriatrics 8-4[even with P.J.McCluskey being hammered by a lady].Philips team lead the group with 39 points qualifying for the quarter finals with a match to spare whether its in first or second place as they take on Tony McDonnells outfit who are in second place on 28 points with two other teams in the group ready to poiunce if there is any slip ups.

In group 3 Stephen Keegan's diehards slammed Philo Condron's pluckers 7-5,Donal Callahan's triers and Bernie Blake's hopalongs shared the points 6-6 and in the last match in this group the self proclaimed favorites "The Dream Team" slammed Ruddies rollickers 8-4 [can anyone stop these so called favorites]. leading the group with 32 point are Johnny Price's dream team and in second place is gents vice captain's lads on 29 points with the teams playing their last match against each other and Philo's team hovering in the background if there is a slip up.

In group 4 Gerry Hennessy's team beat Dora keane's team 7-5,Paddy Croke's crokers beat Kathleen's golden oldies 7-5 and Paddy showed who was wearing the trousers when he easily beat Kathleen and avoiding being scalped.Leading this group is Kathleen's grinders on 29 points with Paddy's crunchers on 27 points.

Well done to all the teams who braved the weather on the day with below zero temperatures in the early matches and torrential showers in the latter matches.

Please note if there are ties in any group the play-offs will take place after the final group tees off at 1.15pm and it will be a doubles match to decide the outcome of the group.
Next weekend is the last time that substitutes can be used and a special thanks to all the players who stood in and kept the groups tight, much appreciated.

Thanks to our sponsor Pat Toulan bookmakers for his continued support.
